Usage and purpose

This is a metatemplate worked out on the Foundation's metawiki site for cross site tools years ago.

The template shows a template name or a series of arguments to a template name in curly-braces as a wrapper as the empty argument default message shown above indicates. subsequent terms are off-set by pipe characters, giving a way to show a template call with arguments (example pass parameters) in page usage.
